I just decided to wing it. I used some Army Painter Dark Tone wash with a drop or two of Army Painter Matte Black on top of an Army Painter Gun Metal. The Gun Metal base was air brushed. The wash was applied initially with a soft brush then wiped/patted to lessen the effect. After it dried for a few hours I hit it again with a firm brush and again wiped/patted it down.
